    Factory-Floor Chatbot ROI Calculator

Quantify the productivity uplift from a shop-floor AI assistant trained on your SOPs, manuals, and shift logs.

    AI

    Quick Answer

This calculator estimates productivity value from a factory-floor AI assistant, using your own operator count, shift pattern and time spent finding answers. The default time saving is a planning assumption to be replaced with a measured sample, not a published benchmark; results depend on knowledge-base quality and whether answers are trusted on the floor.

    Assumptions

How This Illustrative Estimate Is Calculated

    • Time savings come from faster SOP lookups, troubleshooting against equipment manuals, and a structured shift-handover assistant.
    • Excludes hard-to-quantify benefits such as reduced operator-knowledge-loss risk when senior staff retire, and faster ramp-up for new hires.
    • Assumes the assistant is grounded in client SOPs and runs inside the client VPC with role-based access and audit logging.

    Direct answers

Before you rely on this number

How do I measure time spent looking for answers?

Sample it rather than estimate it. Over one or two weeks, have a representative group log each time they stop work to find a procedure, drawing, parameter or past fix, and how long it took. A short measured sample is far more defensible than a workshop guess.

What content does the assistant need to be useful?

Current SOPs, equipment manuals, maintenance history and past troubleshooting records, with clear ownership of which version is authoritative. An assistant answering from superseded documents is worse than no assistant, because it is trusted.

How do we stop it answering confidently when it should not?

Require answers to cite the source document and section, and design an explicit no-answer path that routes to a person. On the floor, an assistant that says it does not know and escalates is what earns trust; confident wrong answers destroy adoption quickly.

Does time saved convert into real capacity?

Not automatically. Minutes recovered across a shift become capacity only if the constraint is labour availability. Where the bottleneck is equipment, the value shows up as faster fault resolution and less downtime instead — a different calculation from the one here.
